#100wordbookreview The Thinking Teacher by Oliver Quinlan

A masterpiece; delving deeply into the purpose behind teaching; asking readers to reflect on why they do what they do and for what purpose.

This theme of reflection is continued throughout the book with various paradigms and philosophies compared; offering them as think pieces rather than absolute truths. The intent is to encourage teachers to examine their beliefs on teaching and the current societal norms in education.

Oliver argues practitioners should challenge, question, develop and share ideas in order to move their own practice forward. Focusing not on repeating the successes of others, rather developing the next practices of education.
